Getting There

  • Public Transport

    From Sofia city center, take the Sofia Metro Line 2 to Vitosha Metro Station. From there, several buses connect to different parts of the mountain. Bus 66 goes to Aleko, near the summit (limited weekday service). Bus 64 takes you to Boyana Church, the starting point for the Boyana Waterfall trail. A single ride on public transport costs 1.60 BGN. A day pass for unlimited travel on all public transport lines costs 4 BGN.

  • Taxi

    Taxis are readily available in Sofia and can take you to various trailheads or the Simeonovo cable car base. A taxi from the city center to the Simeonovo cable car typically costs between 15 and 25 BGN, depending on traffic and the taxi company. Always confirm the rate or use a metered taxi.

  • Cable Car

    The Simeonovo-Aleko cable car offers a scenic ride to the Aleko area. To reach the lower station, take bus 122 or 123 from the Sofia Zoo area. A round-trip ticket on the cable car costs approximately 20 BGN. Check the Vitosha Ski website for the current operating schedule.

  • Walking
