Car
From Buyogoma, head southeast on Avenue de la Réunification toward Route Nationale 2. Continue on Route Nationale 2 for approximately 20 kilometers. Look for signs indicating Ruvubu National Park; you will need to take a right turn onto a smaller road that leads into the park. The drive should take around 30-40 minutes, depending on traffic and road conditions. Please note that you may need to pay a small entrance fee at the park gate.
Public Transportation (Bus)
From Buyogoma, locate the bus station, which is usually near the town center. Board a bus heading towards Ruyigi or any bus that indicates it stops near Ruvubu National Park. The bus journey may take about an hour and costs around 1,000 Burundian Francs (approximately $0.50). Once you arrive at the nearest stop to the park, you may need to hire a motorcycle taxi (known as 'boda-boda') to reach the park entrance, which could cost an additional 2,000 to 3,000 Burundian Francs.
Motorcycle Taxi (Boda-Boda)
If you are already in Buyogoma and prefer a quicker option, you can hire a motorcycle taxi directly to Ruvubu National Park. Negotiate the fare before starting your journey; it should typically cost between 5,000 to 10,000 Burundian Francs depending on your starting point in Buyogoma and the driver. The ride will take approximately 30 minutes.
