If you are staying in the capital city of Sal Rei, start at the main square, Praça Estrela. From there, head north towards Avenida da República, which will take you along the coast. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Rua de Lisboa. Turn left onto Rua de Lisboa and walk until you reach the end of the road at the beach. Turn right and follow the beach road (Estrada de Praia) until you see signs for Morro Negro lighthouse. The walk is approximately 5 km and should take around 1 hour. Rent a bicycle in Sal Rei. From the rental shop, head towards Praça Estrela and follow Avenida da República. Keep straight until you reach Rua de Lisboa. Turn left and continue to the beach. It’s about 5 km from the center of Sal Rei, so expect a 20-30 minute ride depending on your speed. The route is mostly flat and offers beautiful views of the coastline.
