Car
If you're traveling by car from the main town of São Filipe, head southeast on the main road (EN1-FG) towards Atalaia. Follow the signs for Fogo National Park. The journey takes about 30-40 minutes. Once you reach Atalaia, look for the signs directing you to Fogo National Park, which is located at XJJR+GR4. Parking is available near the park entrance.
Public Transportation
To reach Fogo National Park via public transportation, take a 'garupa' (shared taxi) from São Filipe to Atalaia. The fare is approximately 2-3 Euros per person. Once in Atalaia, you can walk or take a local taxi to the park entrance at XJJR+GR4. Be sure to confirm with the driver that they will drop you off close to the park.
Walking
If you're staying nearby in Atalaia, you can walk to Fogo National Park. It’s about a 30-minute walk from the center of Atalaia. Head southeast on the main road and follow the signs to the park. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and carry water, especially if you're visiting during the warmer months.
