Car
From Praia do Tarrafal, head south on the National Road (EN1) towards Cidade Velha. The drive will take approximately 30-40 minutes depending on traffic. As you approach Cidade Velha, keep an eye out for signs indicating the Pelourinho, which is located at W97V+XXR, just off the National Highway. There is limited parking available near the site, so be prepared to park in designated areas.
Public Transportation
To reach Pelourinho via public transportation, take a local 'aluguer' (shared taxi) from Praia do Tarrafal to Cidade Velha. The fare typically ranges from 100 to 200 CVE (Cape Verdean Escudo). The ride will take around 30-40 minutes. Once you arrive in Cidade Velha, you can either walk to Pelourinho, which is about a 10-minute walk, or you can ask the driver to drop you off as close to Pelourinho as possible.
Walking
If you are already in Cidade Velha, Pelourinho is within walking distance. From the main square, head southeast along the National Highway. Follow the signs to Pelourinho, which is roughly a 15-minute walk. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes as the paths may be uneven.
