Car Rental

To reach Monte Leão by car, start from Santa Maria, which is approximately 15 kilometers away. Head north on the main road (EN1-BN) towards Espargos. After about 10 kilometers, take the exit for Murdeira. Follow the road signs directing you to Murdeira, and continue until you reach the coordinates M2X9+F9H, Murdeira. The drive should take about 20-25 minutes. Make sure to check for any rental car fees and ensure you have adequate insurance.

Public Transportation

If you prefer public transport, you can take a local 'aluguer' (shared taxi) from Santa Maria to Espargos. The fare is typically around 200 CVE (Cape Verdean Escudo). From Espargos, take another aluguer towards Murdeira, which will cost approximately 150 CVE. Make sure to confirm with the driver that they are heading to Murdeira. Once you get off in Murdeira, you can either walk or ask a local for directions to Monte Leão, which is located at M2X9+F9H. The total travel time may take around 1 hour, depending on waiting times.

Taxi

For a more direct option, consider hiring a taxi from Santa Maria directly to Monte Leão. This will save time and provide convenience, especially if you're traveling with luggage or in a group. The taxi fare can range from 1,500 to 2,500 CVE, depending on your negotiation skills and the time of day. The journey should take around 20 minutes.
