Car
If you are driving from the main city of Mindelo, take the EN1A road heading south. Continue on this road for approximately 10 kilometers. As you approach the coastal area, follow the signs towards Chã de Areia. The beach is located just off the main road. Make sure to look for parking spaces available near the beach entrance. Parking may be limited during peak hours, so consider arriving early.
Public Transportation (Minibus)
From Mindelo, you can catch a minibus (also known as 'aluguer') heading to Chã de Areia. These minibuses depart from the main bus station in Mindelo. Look for signs indicating Chã de Areia or ask the driver to confirm your destination. The ride will take about 20-30 minutes, and you should expect to pay around 50 CVE (Cape Verdean Escudo) for the fare. Once you arrive at the drop-off point, the beach is a short walk from there.
Taxi
Taxis are available throughout São Vicente, and you can easily hail one from most locations in Mindelo. Simply tell the driver you wish to go to Chã de Areia. The journey will take around 15-20 minutes, and the fare is typically around 300-400 CVE, depending on your starting point. Confirm the price before starting your trip to avoid any misunderstandings.
Walking
If you are staying nearby, Chã de Areia is accessible by foot. From the center of Mindelo, head south towards the coast, following the road signs directing you to the beach. Depending on your starting point, it could take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour to reach the beach on foot, but it’s a pleasant walk with beautiful views along the way.
