Public Transport

From downtown San Francisco, several Golden Gate Transit (GGT) bus lines (Routes 101, 130, and 150) will take you to the Golden Gate Bridge. Board the bus at the Salesforce Transit Center (Bus Plaza, Bay A) or along Mission Street (north side of the street, GGT marked stops only). All buses serve the northbound Toll Plaza bus stop. From Fisherman's Wharf, during weekday afternoons, board any GGT bus (Routes 114, 132, 154, and 172) along North Point Street (north side of the street, GGT marked stops only). All buses serve the northbound Toll Plaza bus stop. At all other times, walk or take Muni's 49 bus line to Van Ness & Union and board any GGT bus (Routes 101, 130, and 150) at the northbound bus stop. A one-way fare on Golden Gate Transit costs approximately $4-$8, depending on the distance. Check the Golden Gate Transit website for current fares and schedules.
Taxi/Ride-Share

Taxis and ride-sharing services like Uber and Lyft provide a convenient way to reach the Golden Gate Bridge from anywhere in San Francisco. A ride from Fisherman's Wharf or downtown San Francisco will typically cost between $25 and $40, depending on traffic and demand. Driving

If driving from San Francisco, follow U.S. Highway 101 north. Take the last exit before the toll plaza, marked 'Golden Gate National Recreation Area View Area.' Turn right at the end of the ramp into the southeast side visitor parking lot. Parking is limited and costs $5 per hour, with a maximum of 3 hours. On weekends and holidays, additional parking may be available in a nearby satellite lot on the southwest side. Alternatively, free parking with a four-hour limit is available at the northeast side parking lot (Vista Point) across the bridge, but this lot is closed on weekends and holidays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Note that tolls are collected electronically only when driving southbound into San Francisco. As of July 1, 2024, the toll is $9.25 for FasTrak users and $9.50 for those without FasTrak.
