Public Transit (Bus)
From downtown Berkeley, walk to the nearest bus stop at Shattuck Ave & University Ave. Catch the AC Transit Bus 7 towards San Francisco. Ride the bus for about 25 minutes until you reach the stop at California & Arguello. From there, it’s a short walk into Golden Gate Park. Follow Arguello Blvd north until you reach the park entrance, then walk east until you reach Hagiwara Tea Garden Dr. The Japanese Tea Garden will be on your left.

Public Transit (BART + Bus)
Start by walking to the Downtown Berkeley BART station. Take the BART train towards San Francisco (make sure to get on the train that goes to the Embarcadero station). After about 20 minutes, get off at the Civic Center/UN Plaza station. From there, transfer to the Muni Bus 5 or 21 towards the Golden Gate Park. Ride for about 15 minutes and get off at the stop at California & Arguello. Walk into the park and head east to Hagiwara Tea Garden Dr. The Japanese Tea Garden will be on your left.

Walking
If you prefer to walk, it is quite a long trek, approximately 2.5 miles. Start from downtown Berkeley and head south on Shattuck Ave, then turn right onto University Ave. Continue walking west until you reach the intersection with the Golden Gate Park entrance. Once inside the park, follow the paths that lead east towards Hagiwara Tea Garden Dr. The Japanese Tea Garden will be on your left, just past the park's various attractions.

Bike Rental
You can rent a bike from one of the local bike rental shops in Berkeley. Once you have your bike, head south down Shattuck Ave, then make your way to University Ave. Follow the bike paths west towards the Golden Gate Park. Once you enter the park, head towards Hagiwara Tea Garden Dr. The Japanese Tea Garden will be on your left. Make sure to check the bike return policies if you are returning the bike in a different location.
