Walking
If you are starting from downtown Berkeley, head south on Shattuck Avenue until you reach the corner of Shattuck and Durant Avenue. Turn left onto Durant Avenue and continue until you reach Telegraph Avenue. Turn right onto Telegraph Avenue and continue south until you reach the intersection with Claremont Boulevard. Here, you will turn left onto Claremont Boulevard. Continue walking straight for about 1.5 miles. You will see Monkey Island on your left, located within the Claremont Canyon Regional Preserve. The entrance is marked and is easily identifiable.

From downtown Berkeley, you can take the AC Transit bus number 67 towards the Claremont area. Board the bus at the nearest stop on Shattuck Avenue. Stay on the bus for about 15 minutes. Get off at the 'Claremont Blvd & Ashby Ave' stop. From there, walk north on Claremont Boulevard for about 0.5 miles. Monkey Island will be on your right within the Claremont Canyon Regional Preserve.
