Discover more about Sonoma Garden Park

Sonoma Garden Park, managed by the Sonoma Ecology Center, is a unique public space dedicated to sustainable agriculture and community engagement. Originally the property of Pauline Bond, a Sonoma schoolteacher, the land was given to the City of Sonoma in 1977 with the agreement that it would remain a public park. In 1993, the Sonoma Ecology Center took over the park's operation, transforming it into a lush landscape of orchards, gardens, and gathering places. The park features winding paths that meander through a variety of themed gardens, including a Water-wise Demonstration Garden maintained by the UC Master Gardeners of Sonoma County. This garden showcases plants with low water needs, providing visitors with ideas for drought-tolerant landscaping. The Children's Garden offers a special place for families to play, taste, and learn about gardens. A children’s play area includes a climbing wall, slide and swings all made from natural materials. Visitors can explore a native plant nursery, chickens and bees, and examples of green building, water, and energy technology. The park also hosts a seasonal Harvest Market every Saturday where visitors can purchase fresh produce, flowers, eggs, local honey, and olive oil. Sonoma Garden Park is not just a place of beauty, but also a center for education. It hosts various workshops, classes, and camps throughout the year, focusing on topics such as seed planting, mushroom cultivation, and resilience landscaping. Sonoma Garden Park is open daily from sunrise to sunset, inviting visitors to immerse themselves in nature and community. Picnicking is encouraged, making it a perfect spot for a relaxing day outdoors.
