Getting There

• Walking

  If you are starting from the center of Carmel-by-the-Sea, exit onto Ocean Avenue and head east towards San Carlos Street. Turn left onto San Carlos Street and continue until you reach 7th Avenue. Turn right onto 7th Avenue and follow it until you reach the end, where it merges into Mission Street. Continue walking straight on Mission Street until you reach the intersection with Houston Street, then turn left. The Robert Louis Stevenson House will be on your right at 530 Houston Street.

  From the center of Carmel-by-the-Sea, start on Ocean Avenue heading east. Turn left on San Carlos Street, then right on 7th Avenue. Continue on 7th Avenue, which will merge into Mission Street. Follow Mission Street until you reach Houston Street. Turn left onto Houston Street, and the Robert Louis Stevenson House will be on your right at 530 Houston Street.

  While there are limited public transport options directly from Carmel-by-the-Sea to Monterey, you can take the Monterey-Salinas Transit bus from the nearest stop in Carmel (located on Ocean Avenue). Take the bus towards Monterey, and disembark at the stop closest to the intersection of Mission Street and Houston Street. From there, walk north on Houston Street, and you will find the Robert Louis Stevenson House at 530 Houston Street on your right.
