Discover more about Escondido Canyon Park

Escondido Canyon Park, located in the heart of Malibu, is a natural haven offering a refreshing escape with its scenic hiking trails and the impressive Escondido Falls. The Edward Albert Escondido Canyon Trail, stretching 4.2 miles, guides visitors through diverse terrains, including oak woodlands, riparian environments, and coastal sage scrub. The main attraction is the multi-tiered, 150-foot Escondido Falls, the tallest waterfall in the Santa Monica Mountains. Note that the falls' flow is seasonal, with water volume varying depending on rainfall. The lower falls are easily accessible, while the upper falls are currently closed to the public to preserve the fragile habitat and prevent injuries. The hike to the lower falls is considered easy to moderate, suitable for various skill levels. The trail crosses Escondido Canyon Creek several times, so be prepared for potentially wet feet, especially after rain. The park welcomes dogs on leashes, making it a great option for pet owners. Escondido Canyon Park provides a serene environment for relaxation and outdoor activities. Remember that Escondido Canyon is a high fire risk zone, so smoking and open fires are prohibited.
