Car
If you're driving from the Central Coast area, you will start on US-101 North. Continue on US-101 until you reach the exit for CA-65 N towards Bakersfield. Merge onto CA-65 N and then take the exit for I-5 N towards Stockton. After a while, merge onto I-80 E towards Sacramento. Once in Sacramento, take exit 5B for CA-160 N towards Redding. Continue on CA-160 N until you reach downtown Sacramento. The California Museum is located at 1020 O St, Sacramento, CA 95814. Look for parking options in the area, as there may be parking fees ranging from $5 to $15 depending on the location.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, start by taking a Greyhound or Amtrak bus service from the Central Coast to Sacramento. Check the schedules and book tickets in advance. Once you arrive at the Sacramento bus or train station, you can either walk or take public transit (RT Light Rail) to the California Museum. If walking, head north on 5th St, turn right onto O St, and you’ll reach the museum in about 15 minutes. If you prefer the Light Rail, board the Blue Line towards Folsom and get off at the 7th & Capitol stop. From there, it's a short 5-minute walk to the museum. Note that public transportation fares vary, so check current prices.
