Driving

From Highway 24 West, take the Orinda exit at Camino Pablo Rd/Moraga Way. Head north on Camino Pablo for approximately 2.5 miles, then turn left onto Wildcat Canyon Rd. Continue up Wildcat Canyon Rd for about 2 miles to the Inspiration Point parking lot on the right. Parking is free.
Public Transport

From Downtown Berkeley BART station, transfer to AC Transit bus #67. The bus provides park access on weekends and holidays, running approximately every 45 minutes. Get off at the stop closest to Inspiration Point; from there, follow Wildcat Canyon Road to the vista point. AC Transit fares are typically around $2.50.

Situated along Wildcat Canyon Road in Orinda, bordering Berkeley, it serves as a popular starting point for exploring the park's extensive trail network.Tilden Regional Park, established in 1936, is one of the East Bay Regional Park District's oldest parks. Named after Charles Lee Tilden, the first president of the Park District Board of Directors, the park spans over 2,079 acres and provides a diverse range of recreational activities.Inspiration Point provides access to various trails, including the popular Nimitz Way, a paved path ideal for hiking, biking, and strollers. Nimitz Way is named after Admiral Chester W. Nimitz, a World War II naval leader who frequented the area and was known for scattering wildflower seeds along the trail. The point also connects to other trails like Wildcat Peak Trail and Conlon Trail, offering options for both short walks and longer, more challenging hikes.The area around Inspiration Point has a rich history. Before becoming a park, the land was inhabited by the Ohlone people, followed by Spanish explorers and Mexican ranchers. During the New Deal era, the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) constructed many of the park's features, including roads, trails, and picnic spots.
