From the Huntington Beach area, head to the nearest bus stop serving the OCTA (Orange County Transportation Authority) bus system. You can catch the Route 1 bus towards 'Laguna Beach'. Ride the bus until you reach the 'PCH & Dana Point Harbor Dr' stop. From there, it's a short walk to Doheny State Beach. Head south on Dana Point Harbor Dr, and the beach entrance will be on your left.

Bicycle
If you prefer cycling, rent a bike from one of the local rental shops in Huntington Beach. From the beach area, take the scenic Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) south towards Dana Point. The ride is approximately 10 miles and offers beautiful views of the coastline. Once you reach Dana Point, turn left onto Dana Point Harbor Dr, and you will find Doheny State Beach on your right.

For those who enjoy walking, you can take a longer stroll from Huntington Beach to Doheny State Beach. Start from the Huntington Beach Pier and walk south along the beach path. Follow the shoreline, enjoying the ocean view. This is about a 10-mile walk, which will take around 3-4 hours depending on your pace. When you get to the Dana Point area, look for signs directing you to Dana Point Harbor Dr, and follow the road to the beach entrance.
