To reach Coronado Island from La Jolla, start by heading to the nearest bus stop. You can catch the 30 bus from the La Jolla Village Square shopping center. Board the bus heading towards 'Downtown San Diego'. When you arrive at the 'Broadway & 1st' stop in downtown San Diego, transfer to the 901 bus towards Coronado. Ride this bus until you reach the 'Coronado Ferry Landing' stop. From there, you can enjoy a short walk to the beach or other attractions on Coronado Island.

If you're feeling adventurous, consider renting a bicycle. Start at any bike rental shop in La Jolla, such as La Jolla Bike Rentals. Head south on Coast Boulevard, following the scenic coastline. Continue until you reach the San Diego-Coronado Bridge. You can either ride across the bridge (note that it can be a bit steep) or take a bike path leading to the Coronado Ferry Landing. Once in Coronado, explore the island at your leisure.

For those who prefer walking, the closest option is to take a scenic route to the ferry. Begin at La Jolla Shores and walk along the beach path. Continue south until you reach the La Jolla Cove. From there, navigate towards the nearest bus stop for the 30 bus heading to downtown San Diego, and transfer to the 901 bus to Coronado. If you prefer to walk more, you can stroll to the ferry terminal in downtown San Diego and take the ferry directly to Coronado Island. This route offers a lovely view of the bay and skyline.
