Travel Guide to Venice Breakwater

Getting There

• Walking

  If you are in the heart of Venice Beach, you can simply walk towards the ocean. Head west on any street that leads to the beach, such as Windward Avenue or Rose Avenue. Once you reach the Ocean Front Walk, turn right (north) and stroll along the promenade. The Venice Breakwater is located directly along the beach, just past the Venice Fishing Pier. You'll know you are close when you see the sandy beach and the pier structures. It’s about a 10-15 minute walk from the main areas of Venice Beach.

• Bicycle

  For a quicker option, consider renting a bicycle. There are several bike rental shops along Ocean Front Walk. After renting a bike, head north along the beach path. The bike lane runs parallel to the beach, and you’ll enjoy a scenic ride. The Venice Breakwater is located just past the Venice Fishing Pier, which you’ll see on your right after about 5-10 minutes of cycling. Make sure to follow the bike lane and be cautious of pedestrians along the walkway.

• Public Transit (Bus)

  If you are further away in the Venice area, you can take a bus. Catch the Metro 33 or 733 bus at a nearby stop. Make sure to check the bus schedule online or via the Metro app for the most accurate times. Get off at the stop closest to Venice Beach. From there, it’s a short walk to the Ocean Front Walk. Simply head west towards the beach, then turn right (north) on Ocean Front Walk. The Venice Breakwater is located along this path, just beyond the Venice Fishing Pier. The bus fare is approximately $1.75.
