From the Modesto Transit Center (9th and J Streets), walk east on J Street, then turn right onto 14th Street. Walk one block south on 14th Street to I Street. The McHenry Museum is located on the corner of 14th and I Streets. The walk is approximately 5-10 minutes. No costs are associated with this option.

Several MAX (Modesto Area Express) bus routes serve the downtown area. Check the MAX website for the most up-to-date routes and schedules. From the Modesto Transit Center, many routes will drop you off within a few blocks of the museum. A single ride fare is $1.25.

Driving
From Highway 99, exit onto CA-132/Maze Blvd and head east. Turn right onto N 9th St, then turn right onto I St. The McHenry Museum will be on your left. Street parking is available, but can be limited. There are also several parking garages in the downtown area, including the 11th Street Garage (between I and J Streets), where parking costs $1.25 per hour. Pre-pay is available after 6:00 PM every day at the Pay Station. Event days as well as Friday and Saturday are "pre-pay upon entry" after 5:00 PM.
