Getting There

  • Driving

    From Sacramento, take I-80 to Auburn and exit on Elm Avenue (Exit 119C). Turn right on Elm and then right again on Highway 49. Continue for 2.4 miles to Atwood Road and turn right. Atwood becomes Mount Vernon; follow it to Mears Road and turn right. Take the first right to stay on Mears Road, and the park entrance will be on your left. Parking reservations are required on weekends, holidays and peak days. All-day parking is $8.

  • Public Transport

    Take the Amtrak from Sacramento to Auburn. From the Auburn Amtrak station, Placer County Transit Route 10X runs to the corner of Bell Rd and Mears Place. From there it is approximately a 1.8 mile walk to the park entrance. Amtrak tickets from Sacramento to Auburn range from $4 to $55. A day pass on Placer County Transit is $3.00.
