Ocean Beach: San Francisco's Wild Pacific Edge

Ocean Beach, bordering the Pacific Ocean on San Francisco's western edge, presents a unique coastal experience. Stretching for 3.5 miles from the Cliff House south to Fort Funston, it's a place where the city meets the raw power of nature. Originally part of the undeveloped "Outside Lands" due to its harsh weather, Ocean Beach began to develop in the late 19th century. The beach is adjacent to Golden Gate Park, offering a seamless transition from urban greenery to coastal scenery. The Sunset Dunes park repurposes a closed section of the Great Highway into a space for recreation and events. At the northern end, the historic Cliff House offers stunning views, and the ruins of Sutro Baths evoke a sense of the past.
