BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit)
Start by heading to the nearest BART station in Oakland, such as 12th Street Oakland City Center or MacArthur Station. Purchase a ticket to the 'Embarcadero' station in San Francisco. Once on the BART train, enjoy the ride and get off at the Embarcadero station. From there, transfer to the Muni bus or streetcar. Take the Muni F-line streetcar towards Fisherman’s Wharf and get off at the 'Pier 39' stop. Walk along the waterfront, following the crowd, until you reach Union Street in San Francisco.
AC Transit Bus
Find the nearest AC Transit bus stop and board the bus heading towards San Francisco. You can take lines like the 33 or 72. Ask the driver for the best stop to get off for Union Street. A common stop to transfer is at the Transbay Terminal. Once at the terminal, you can either walk or take the Muni bus towards Union Street, following directional signs. Union Street is a short walk from the bus drop-off point.
Ferry
Head to the Jack London Square Ferry Terminal. Purchase a ticket for the ferry heading to San Francisco. Once you arrive at the Ferry Building, exit and walk towards the Embarcadero. From there, you can take the Muni F-line streetcar towards Fisherman’s Wharf and get off at the 'Pier 39' stop. After disembarking, head towards Union Street by walking along the waterfront, following the signs.
Walking
If you're staying in a hotel in downtown Oakland, you can walk to the nearest BART station or AC Transit bus stop. Once you reach either station, follow the previous guidance for BART or AC Transit buses. If you're up for it and nearby, consider a scenic walk to the ferry terminal and take the ferry to San Francisco, enjoying the views of the Bay along the way.
