Discover more about Adventure Playground

Adventure Playground in Berkeley is unlike any other playground you've likely encountered. Opened in 1979, this innovative space encourages children to explore their creativity through building, climbing, and imaginative play. Inspired by the "junk playgrounds" of post-World War II Europe, where children played amongst the rubble, Adventure Playground provides kids with tools and materials to construct their own forts and structures. Here, kids can grab a hammer, saw, and paint to create their own masterpieces from recycled materials. The playground features kid-designed forts, boats, towers, a zip line, and a climbing web. It's a place where children can learn cooperation, meet physical challenges, and gain self-confidence. Parents can relax knowing that trained staff supervise the play area, ensuring a safe environment while allowing kids the freedom to explore. The playground is designed for children seven years and older, but younger children are welcome if accompanied by a responsible adult. Be sure to dress the kids in clothes that can get dirty, as paint, sand, and water are all part of the fun.
