The Boy Scout Trail in Joshua Tree National Park is a popular 8-mile (one-way) hike through the Wonderland of Rocks, offering a taste of the Mojave Desert's unique landscape. Starting near the West Entrance, the trail descends into a rocky canyon towards Indian Cove, showcasing Joshua Trees, cacti, and stunning rock formations.

Driving
To reach the Boy Scout Trailhead (Keys West), from Highway 62 in the town of Joshua Tree, turn south onto Park Boulevard. Continue for approximately 5 miles until you see signs for the Boy Scout Trail parking area on your left. The parking lot is located at the Keys West Backcountry Camping Registration area. Remember that a vehicle entrance fee of $30 is required to enter Joshua Tree National Park. This pass is valid for 7 days. Alternatively, an annual Joshua Tree National Park pass can be purchased for $55. Parking at the trailhead is free.
Walking
If starting from the Joshua Tree Visitor Center, head south on Park Boulevard for approximately 5 miles to the Boy Scout Trailhead at the Keys West Backcountry Camping Registration parking area. Note that this is a long walk, and there are no designated pedestrian routes along Park Boulevard. Taxis or ride-sharing services may be limited in this area. The park entrance fee of $15 per person still applies.
