Discover more about Keys View

Keys View is a must-see destination within Joshua Tree National Park, renowned for its sweeping vistas and accessibility. Situated on the crest of the Little San Bernardino Mountains, the viewpoint offers an unparalleled perspective of the Coachella Valley, a sprawling landscape that stretches out below. From this vantage point, visitors can gaze upon the Salton Sea, a shimmering body of water that lies 230 feet below sea level. On clear days, the view extends as far as Signal Mountain in Mexico, approximately 90 miles to the south. The San Andreas Fault, a major geological feature, is also visible as it carves its way through the valley. The viewpoint is easily accessible via a 20-minute drive from Park Boulevard, the main road through Joshua Tree National Park. A short, paved, wheelchair-accessible trail leads to the main lookout point, making it suitable for visitors of all abilities. For those seeking a slightly more challenging experience, a 0.2-mile loop trail climbs the ridge for alternative perspectives. Keys View is particularly popular at sunset, when the colors of the desert sky paint a dramatic backdrop to the already stunning scenery. However, it can be windy and chilly due to the high elevation, so it's advisable to bring layers.
