Discover more about Pioneertown

Pioneertown, a captivating destination in the California desert, offers a unique blend of history and entertainment. Founded in 1946 by a group of Hollywood investors, including Roy Rogers and Gene Autry, the town was designed as a dual-purpose location: a functioning 1880s-themed movie set and a place for actors and crew to live and play. Mane Street, the heart of Pioneertown, is open to the public and features false-front facades that evoke the Wild West era. While strolling down this historic street, visitors can explore various shops, boutiques, and restaurants. Pappy and Harriet's Pioneertown Palace is a must-visit spot, known for its live music performances and delicious mesquite BBQ. The Red Dog Saloon offers a taste of the Old West with its classic saloon atmosphere. On select weekends, catch a Wild West show with gunfights and stunts. Other attractions include the Pioneertown Film Museum, the vintage-vibed Pioneer Bowl, and the Pioneertown Motel, offering a unique lodging experience. The surrounding area also offers outdoor activities, such as hiking in the Pioneertown Mountains Preserve. Though initially conceived as a sprawling development, Pioneertown's growth was limited by a lack of water. Despite this, it remains a popular destination for tourists and filmmakers alike, offering a glimpse into the golden age of Westerns and a chance to experience the charm of a bygone era.
