Discover more about Palm Springs Air Museum

The Palm Springs Air Museum is a living history museum dedicated to educating the public about the role of air power in preserving American liberties. Founded in 1994 and opened in 1996, the museum has grown to encompass five themed hangars, outdoor displays, and a visitor center. The museum's collection includes over 70 vintage aircraft, many of which are still flyable. The hangars are organized by theme, including the Pacific (Navy), the European (Army), the B-17 hangar, the General Ken Miles Korea / Vietnam / Cold War hangar, and the F-117A Nighthawk Pavilion. Visitors can explore exhibits featuring artifacts, artwork, and videos, and even tour the inside of a flyable B-17 bomber. The museum also offers flight simulator experiences and warbird rides for an additional fee. Many of the museum's planes have been used in movies, adding to the allure for aviation and film enthusiasts alike. The Palm Springs Air Museum hosts several annual events, including a gala, a Memorial Day flower drop, a chili cook-off and car show, and a craft beer festival. These events help support the museum's mission to preserve and educate about aviation history. Recent additions to the museum include the Darkstar, a mock jet from Top Gun: Maverick, and the X-38, a spacecraft prototype. These exhibits are part of the museum's new Lockheed Martin Skunkworks Annex, which will focus on suborbital flight and rocket education.
