    Discover more about The Broad

The Broad stands as a beacon of contemporary art in the heart of Los Angeles. Founded by philanthropists Eli and Edythe Broad, the museum opened in September 2015 and has quickly become a cultural landmark. Its location on Grand Avenue places it amidst other iconic structures like the Walt Disney Concert Hall, creating a vibrant arts corridor. The museum's architecture, conceived by Diller Scofidio + Renfro in collaboration with Gensler, is a work of art in itself. The 'veil-and-vault' concept features a porous, honeycomb-like exterior that allows filtered natural light to illuminate the gallery spaces. This design not only distinguishes The Broad from its neighbors but also enhances the visitor experience. Inside, The Broad houses a collection of nearly 2,000 pieces of contemporary art, showcasing works from the 1950s to the present. Visitors can explore pieces by renowned artists such as Andy Warhol, Jeff Koons, Roy Lichtenstein, and Yayoi Kusama. The museum is committed to making art accessible, offering free general admission to its permanent collection galleries. Special exhibitions and events may have separate charges. The Broad's commitment extends to sustainability, earning a LEED Gold certification for its energy-saving design and practices. The museum also strives to engage diverse audiences, offering programs and resources for families, students, and visitors with disabilities.
