Getting There

  • Driving

From Redding, take Lake Boulevard north towards Shasta Dam. Turn onto Flanagan Road and follow it to the end, where you'll find a gravel parking lot on your right. This is the Flanagan Trailhead, the most common starting point for hiking Chamise Peak. Parking is free. Be aware that the parking lot is small and can fill up quickly, especially on weekends.

  • Public Transport

While public transportation directly to the Flanagan Trailhead is limited, the Redding Area Bus Authority (RABA) offers services within Redding. You can take a RABA bus to a location closer to Flanagan Road and then use a ride-sharing service or taxi to reach the trailhead. A single RABA bus ride costs around $2. Ride-sharing or taxi fares from downtown Redding to the trailhead will vary but typically range from $15-$25.
