Getting There

• Public Transport

  From downtown San Diego, take the MTS bus route 923 to Ocean Beach. The bus departs from Broadway & Columbia St and arrives at Cable St & Newport Av in Ocean Beach. The journey takes approximately 35 minutes and costs $2 - $5. Alternatively, take the MTS bus route 35 from Old Town to Ocean Beach. • Walking

  From anywhere in Ocean Beach, walking to the beach, pier, or Newport Avenue is generally easy and convenient. The area is pedestrian-friendly, with sidewalks and crosswalks throughout. From Sunset Cliffs Natural Park, it's approximately a 45-minute walk along Sunset Cliffs Boulevard to the main area of Ocean Beach. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring water, especially on warm days.

• Ride Share/Taxi

  From downtown San Diego, a taxi or ride-sharing service to Ocean Beach takes approximately 10 minutes and costs $24 - $30. This is the fastest way to reach Ocean Beach. Expect higher fares during peak season and events.

• Parking

  Several public parking lots are available in Ocean Beach, including lots at the foot of Voltaire Street, at the north end of Dog Beach, at the foot of Santa Monica Avenue, and at the foot of Newport Avenue next to the Ocean Beach Pier. Street parking is also available along Newport Avenue and in surrounding residential neighborhoods. Be aware of time limits and street cleaning schedules. Paid parking is available at the lot on Santa Monica Ave near Bacon St. Rates vary, but typically range from $3-$5 per hour.
