Getting There

  • Walking

    If you are in North Beach, start by heading south on Columbus Avenue. Continue walking until you reach the intersection with Bay Street. Turn left onto Bay Street, and then take a right onto The Embarcadero. Continue walking along The Embarcadero, and you will see PIER 39 on your right. The walk is approximately 1 mile and should take around 20-25 minutes.

  • Public Transportation - Muni Bus

    From North Beach, you can catch the Muni Bus #47 or the Muni Bus #8 at the corner of Columbus Avenue and Bay Street. Board the bus and ride for about 5-10 minutes. Get off at the stop for The Embarcadero and Fisherman's Wharf. From there, it’s just a short walk to PIER 39. The cost for a single ride is $3.00, and make sure to have exact change or a Clipper card.

  • Public Transportation - Cable Car

    You can also take the Powell-Hyde or Powell-Mason cable car from the Powell Street station. Walk to the nearest cable car stop on Powell Street, which is about a 10-minute walk from North Beach. Once on the cable car, enjoy the scenic ride down to the Fisherman's Wharf area, which takes about 15 minutes. Disembark at the stop near Bay Street. From there, walk east along The Embarcadero to reach PIER 39. A single ride on the cable car costs $8.00.
