Discover more about Reinhardt Redwood Regional Park

Dr. Aurelia Reinhardt Redwood Regional Park, a part of the East Bay Regional Parks District, is a serene escape into a world of towering redwoods, located just a few miles over the ridge from Oakland. This 1,833-acre park offers a tranquil retreat with nearly 40 miles of trails winding through groves of coast redwoods, some reaching 150 feet in height. Once the site of extensive logging in the mid-1800s to supply building materials for the San Francisco Bay Area, the forest has since regrown into a majestic woodland. The park was renamed in 2019 to honor Dr. Aurelia Henry Reinhardt, president of Mills College and a key figure in the East Bay Regional Park District's early years. Visitors can explore a variety of trails suitable for hiking, jogging, and horseback riding, including sections of the East Bay Skyline National Trail and the Bay Area Ridge Trail. Beyond the redwoods, the park boasts diverse ecosystems of evergreens, chaparral, and grasslands, providing habitat for wildlife such as deer, raccoons, golden eagles, and the Alameda striped racer. The park also features picnic sites, a children's play area, and equestrian amenities. In winter, thousands of ladybugs often gather along Stream Trail. Reinhardt Redwood Regional Park offers a unique blend of natural beauty and history, making it a worthwhile destination for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts.
