Discover more about Beckmen Vineyards

Beckmen Vineyards, established in 1994 by Tom and Judy Beckmen, is a family-owned and operated winery that has become synonymous with high-quality, estate-grown Rhône varietal wines in Santa Barbara County. After successful careers in the electronic music business as founders of Roland Corp, US, the Beckmens embarked on a new journey, driven by a passion for crafting distinctive wines that reflect the unique terroir of the Santa Ynez Valley. The vineyard's commitment to sustainable practices is evident in its biodynamic farming methods, implemented in 2006 and certified in 2008. This holistic approach treats the farm as a living organism, avoiding synthetic herbicides, insecticides, pesticides, and nitrogen-based fertilizers. Instead, they focus on fostering a healthy ecosystem that promotes vine health and fruit quality. Beckmen Vineyards comprises two distinct vineyard sites: the Thomas and Judith Beckmen Estate Vineyard in the Los Olivos District AVA and the Purisima Mountain Vineyard in Ballard Canyon AVA. The Estate Vineyard, a 25-acre site with rolling hills, is planted primarily with Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Grenache and Mourvèdre. Purisima Mountain Vineyard, a 365-acre ranch with elevations reaching 1,250 feet, boasts a unique microclimate and limestone subsoil, ideal for Rhône varietals like Syrah, Grenache, Viognier, Grenache Blanc, Marsanne, Mourvèdre and Counoise. Visitors to Beckmen Vineyards can enjoy a memorable tasting experience in the charming tasting room, which overlooks a serene pond and garden. The winery offers a range of tasting flights, allowing guests to sample their acclaimed wines and learn about the winemaking process. Picnics are welcome in the scenic gazebos, providing a perfect setting to savor Beckmen's wines amidst the beauty of the Santa Ynez Valley.
