From Dunsmuir, CA, head west on Dunsmuir Ave, then continue onto Castle Lake Rd for approximately 7 miles. The road ends at the Castle Lake parking lot, the trailhead for Castle Lake Trail. Be aware that Castle Lake Road is paved but can be subject to snow in winter; check conditions before heading out.

Parking is available at the Castle Lake parking lot. The lot provides direct access to the lake and trailhead. Parking is free. Arrive early during peak season (summer) to secure a spot, as the lot can fill up quickly.
