The McCloud River Falls Trailhead serves as the gateway to a memorable journey through the scenic beauty of the McCloud River. The trail system highlights three distinct waterfalls: Lower, Middle, and Upper McCloud Falls, each offering unique perspectives and experiences. The Lower Falls, a 15-foot cascade into a deep pool, is easily accessible and a popular spot for swimming. The trail then leads to Middle Falls, the most picturesque of the three, plunging over 50 feet into a wide pool. Continuing upstream, the trail arrives at Upper Falls, where the river flows powerfully over a 50-foot basalt rock wall. While the entire 3.8-mile hike (out and back) from Lower Falls to Upper Falls and back is rewarding, each waterfall also has its own parking area for shorter visits.
