From downtown Tahoe City, head east on the bike path along Lake Tahoe Boulevard. Continue on the path for about 2 miles until you reach the intersection with Donner Pass Road. Turn left onto Donner Pass Road, which will take you directly to the Donner Lake area. Follow the road for approximately 3 miles, and you'll find parking areas and access points to the lake.

From the Tahoe City Transit Center, board the TART (Tahoe Area Regional Transit) bus heading towards Truckee. The bus will take you along Highway 89. After about 20 minutes, disembark at the Donner Lake stop. From there, you can walk to the lake by following the signs to the waterfront, which is just a short 5-minute walk from the bus stop.
