To reach the Palomar Observatory from central Temecula, start by taking the Riverside Transit Agency (RTA) Route 79 bus from the Temecula Transit Center. Board the bus heading towards the Temecula Valley Hospital. Get off at the stop near the intersection of Winchester Rd and California Oaks Rd. From there, transfer to the Route 79 heading towards the Palomar Mountain area. Stay on the bus until you reach the stop closest to Canfield Rd. You will need to walk approximately 1.5 miles along Canfield Rd to reach the observatory. Be sure to check the RTA schedule for the latest times, as bus services may be limited.

If you're up for a bit of exercise, renting a bicycle in Temecula is a great way to reach the Palomar Observatory. Start from the Old Town Temecula area and ride north on Rancho California Rd. Continue on this road until you reach the junction with Highway 76, then turn right. After a few miles, turn left onto Canfield Rd.
