Discover more about Chapel of Memories

The Chapel of Memories, originally St. Catherine's of Alexandria Church, stands as a testament to Temecula's rich history. Constructed in 1917, it was the first building built as a church in Old Town Temecula. Father John J. Burri initiated the project in 1910 to serve the growing local Catholic community. The Santa Fe Railroad and Macedonia Machado, a local resident, contributed significantly to purchasing the land. In 1988, the Roman Catholic Diocese of San Bernardino sold the land, and Tony and Mildred Tobin purchased the chapel, donating it to the Old Town Temecula Museum Society. It was then moved to its current location in Sam Hicks Monument Park. The chapel has been meticulously restored to reflect its early 1920s origins, featuring a blend of original and replicated stained glass and replica pews. Today, the Chapel of Memories provides a unique and intimate setting for wedding ceremonies and receptions. With seating for up to 100 guests, the chapel includes separate dressing rooms and an enclosed patio area suitable for receptions of up to 80 guests. The venue is perfect for DIY couples seeking an affordable and historic location.
