The Carnegie Arts Center in Turlock stands as a testament to the city's commitment to arts and culture. Originally built in 1916 as one of Andrew Carnegie's libraries, it served the community as a library until 1968. In 1979, it transitioned into an arts center, becoming a hub for creative expression.In November 2005, a devastating fire nearly destroyed the building, leaving only the exterior walls standing. However, the community rallied together to rebuild and expand the center, blending the historic architecture with modern facilities. The renovated Carnegie Arts Center reopened in September 2011, featuring galleries, classrooms, and performance spaces. The charred walls of the original library are visible in the lobby as a reminder of the city's resilience.Today, the Carnegie Arts Center hosts a variety of events, including art exhibitions, concerts, theater performances, and educational programs for all ages. It also provides art classes. The center is operated by the Carnegie Arts Center Foundation.The Carnegie Arts Center is a place where the community can come together to experience and celebrate the arts.

    Walking

    The Carnegie Arts Center is located in downtown Turlock on North Broadway. If you are already in the downtown area, walking is a convenient option. From Main Street, walk north on Broadway for a few blocks. The Arts Center will be on your left. Sidewalks are well-maintained in the area.

    Public Transport

    Turlock Transit provides bus service throughout the city. Check the Turlock Transit website for routes and schedules to the downtown area. From the nearest bus stop on N. Broadway, it is a short walk to the Arts Center. Single ride fares are around $1.50.

    Driving

    If driving, the Carnegie Arts Center is easily accessible from Highway 99. Exit at Main Street and head east into downtown. Turn north onto Broadway. The Arts Center will be on your left. Parking is available on the street and in nearby parking lots. Metered street parking costs $0.75 per hour, with a two-hour time limit. Parking lots behind the CAC and in front of the police department are free.
