    From downtown Walnut Creek, walk to the Walnut Creek BART station located at 200 Ygnacio Valley Rd. Take the BART train towards San Francisco International Airport and ride for 5 stops until you reach the Coliseum station. From there, transfer to the AC Transit bus line 73 towards the Oakland Zoo. Get off at the stop closest to the zoo entrance, which is the 'Golf Links Rd. & Zoo Entrance' stop. The Oakland Zoo will be a short walk from the bus stop.

  • Bicycle

    If you prefer cycling, rent a bike from one of the local rental shops in Walnut Creek. Head east on Mt. Diablo Blvd towards the Iron Horse Regional Trail. Follow the trail north until you reach the intersection with Treat Blvd. Turn right onto Treat Blvd and continue straight until you reach the intersection with Golf Links Rd. Turn left onto Golf Links Rd, and you will arrive at the Oakland Zoo after a few minutes of riding.

    For a more adventurous route, you can walk from Walnut Creek to the Oakland Zoo. Start at the Walnut Creek BART station. Walk south on Ygnacio Valley Rd toward the intersection with N Main St. Cross the street and follow N Main St until you reach the freeway overpass. Continue along the pedestrian path to connect to a series of walking trails that lead towards the Oakland Zoo. This is a longer journey and may take several hours, so be prepared and wear comfortable shoes.
