Posey family, the mansion was later purchased by Edward L. Doheny, a prominent oil magnate, in 1901. The mansion's architecture is an eclectic blend of Romantic Revival, incorporating elements of Gothic, Chateauesque, Moorish, and California Mission styles.The interior is equally impressive, reflecting the Doheny family's wealth and status. One of the mansion's highlights is the Pompeian Room, featuring an iridescent Tiffany glass dome, Corinthian columns, and a geometrically-patterned Tuscan marble floor. Carrie Estelle Doheny, Edward's wife, was a generous philanthropist who supported numerous charitable organizations, including the Doheny Eye Institute. Upon her death in 1958, she bequeathed the mansion and surrounding properties to Mount St. Mary's College.Today, the Doheny Mansion serves as a venue for university events, concerts, and public tours, offering visitors a glimpse into Los Angeles's history and the life of one of its most influential families.
