From Yosemite Village, start at the Yosemite Valley Visitor Center. Head northeast on the paved path toward the Yosemite Falls trailhead. Follow the signs for Vernal Fall. The trail begins to ascend with a series of switchbacks. Continue along the Mist Trail, which is well-marked and offers spectacular views of the surrounding landscape. After about 1 mile, you'll reach the footbridge that crosses the Merced River. Here, you can enjoy a beautiful view of Vernal Fall. Continue up the Mist Trail for another half mile, and you'll arrive at the base of Vernal Fall, where you can enjoy the majestic waterfall up close.

Alternatively, you can take the John Muir Trail from the same starting point at the Yosemite Valley Visitor Center. Follow the signs for the John Muir Trail, which is a more gradual ascent compared to the Mist Trail. This path will lead you to a junction where you can merge back onto the Mist Trail. Continue toward Vernal Fall, where you'll eventually reach the waterfall. This route is slightly longer but offers a different perspective of the area.
