Taxi
From Kampong Thom city center, taxis and remorks (tuk-tuks) are readily available for the 17km trip to Phnom Santuk. A remork should cost around $10 for a return trip, while a taxi may be slightly more expensive. Negotiate the price beforehand. The journey takes approximately 40 minutes.

The mountain's history stretches back before the Angkorian era, with legends suggesting its sacredness dates to the Hindu period. One story recounts King Thommo Reachea I transferring Buddha relics to a village near the mountain in the 15th century. Wat Phnom Santuk, constructed in the 7th century, stands as one of Cambodia's oldest temples, marking the mountain as a prominent center of Khmer culture and religion.
To reach the summit, visitors can ascend 809 colorful steps flanked by statues or take a 2.5km paved road. Along the path, discover Brahmanic carvings and, at the summit, a white temple with shrines and deities. The most imposing figure is a 10-meter-long reclining Buddha carved into the rock.
