  • Taxi

    From Kampong Thom city center, taxis and remorks (tuk-tuks) are readily available for the 17km trip to Phnom Santuk. A remork should cost around $10 for a return trip, while a taxi may be slightly more expensive. Negotiate the price beforehand. The journey takes approximately 40 minutes.

    After arriving at the base of Phnom Santuk, visitors have the option of climbing the 809 steps or walking up the 2.5km paved road to reach the summit. There is an entrance fee of $2. The walk up the mountain can take anywhere from 30 minutes to over an hour, depending on fitness level.

Along the path, discover Brahmanic carvings and, at the summit, a white temple with shrines and deities. The most imposing figure is a 10-meter-long reclining Buddha carved into the rock. Other key features include Prasat Touch, a three-tiered sandstone sanctuary, and Preah Bat Chann, a statue of Tuk surrounded by smaller sculptures. Phnom Santuk offers sweeping views of the surrounding countryside, including the Ko Kos village plains, the Tonle Sap River, and rice paddies. The site is also home to monks who welcome foreign visitors.
