Discover more about Prasat Preah Pithu Group

The Prasat Preah Pithu Group, located within the ancient city of Angkor Thom, offers a tranquil respite from the more crowded temples of Angkor. This cluster of five temples, named T, U, V, X, and Y, were likely not constructed as a single, unified complex but rather built individually over time. Temples T, U, and V are Hindu in origin, while Temple X is Buddhist, and Temple Y's purpose is unknown.Despite their ruined state, the temples feature detailed carvings that exemplify Khmer artistry. The temples are surrounded by trees, creating a peaceful and attractive setting for exploration. Temple X stands out with its cruciform shape and the remains of seated Buddha images, a rare sight due to past iconoclasm.Visiting the Preah Pithu Group provides a unique opportunity to experience the architectural and spiritual heritage of Angkor in a more intimate setting. The temples' quiet charm and intricate details offer a rewarding experience for those seeking a deeper connection with Angkor's history.
