Hi, I'm Eve. Here are a few practical things to know before exploring Eastern Mebon Temple.
Local know-how to help you travel smarter and make the most of every moment.
Tuk-Tuk
From the center of Siem Reap, head to Pub Street, which is a popular gathering area. Look for a tuk-tuk driver; they are plentiful and will be happy to take you to Eastern Mebon Temple. Show them the address: 'CWWC+J2H, Krong Siem Reap'. The ride will take approximately 30 minutes. Make sure to agree on a price before getting in, typically around $10-$15.
Bicycle
If you're feeling adventurous, rent a bicycle from one of the many rental shops in Siem Reap, especially around the Old Market area. Head north on Street 26 towards the Angkor Archaeological Park. Follow the signs and continue straight until you reach the East Baray reservoir. Eastern Mebon Temple is located on the northwest side of the reservoir. The ride will take about 45 minutes to an hour, so be prepared for a leisurely trip!
Walking
Walking to Eastern Mebon Temple is not practical due to the distance, but if you are close to the Angkor Wat area, you can walk to the East Baray and then head towards the temple. This will take a significant amount of time, so it's recommended only if you enjoy long walks. It's about a 2-hour walk from Angkor Wat, so ensure you have water and sun protection.
Motorbike Taxi
For a faster option, you can hire a motorbike taxi (also known as 'moto') from any main street or your hotel. Agree on a fare beforehand; it should be around $5-$10 for the trip. Tell the driver to take you to 'Eastern Mebon Temple' or provide them with the address: 'CWWC+J2H, Krong Siem Reap'. The ride will take about 20-25 minutes.
