Angkor Panorama Museum, Siem Reap Travel Guide

The Angkor Panorama Museum, located in Siem Reap, Cambodia, provides visitors with a unique and immersive experience into the history and culture of the Khmer Empire. The museum's centerpiece is a colossal 360-degree panoramic painting, measuring 123 meters in length and 13 meters in height, which depicts scenes from the 12th-century Angkorian era. This artwork showcases detailed depictions of battles, construction of temples like Bayon, and everyday life in the Angkor Empire, featuring over 45,000 human figures.The museum was constructed between 2011 and 2015 with an investment of $24 million by the North Korean government. The Mansudae Art Studio from North Korea designed and created the museum in collaboration with Cambodian officials. Besides the panorama, the museum features miniature models of the Angkor temple complex, paintings, and exhibits about the Cham-Vietnamese War and the construction of the Bayon Temple.While the museum aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the Angkor period, some find the entry fee steep. The museum is located near the Angkor Visitor Center and the new ticketing station for the Angkor temples.
