Ekom Nkam Waterfalls, also known as Chutes d'Ekom Nkam, is located in the Moungo Department of Cameroon's Littoral Region. These majestic twin waterfalls, approximately 80 meters high, are a captivating sight amidst a dense jungle forest. The name Ekom Nkam comes from the village where the falls are located and the Nkam River, which feeds them. The falls consist of two main cascades: a 'male' fall, which flows continuously, and a 'female' fall, which is fed only during the rainy season. The powerful rush of water creates a thundering sound and a misty atmosphere, offering an invigorating experience for visitors. The site gained international recognition when scenes from the 1984 film 'Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes' were filmed here.The surrounding area is rich in biodiversity, with evergreen deciduous forests, chimpanzees, monkeys, and diverse flora. Hiking trails offer panoramic views, allowing visitors to explore the lush landscape. Swimming is possible in the dry season.
