Ekom Nkam Waterfalls, also known as Chutes d'Ekom Nkam, presents a mesmerizing display of natural power and beauty in Cameroon's Littoral Region. Located near Nkongsamba, these twin waterfalls cascade down approximately 80 meters (262 feet) amidst a lush, evergreen forest. The name 'Ekom Nkam' originates from the village where the falls are located (Ekom) and the name of the river from which the falls originate (Nkam).The falls consist of two main cascades: a 'male' fall, which flows continuously throughout the year, and a 'female' fall, which is fed only during the rainy season. The surrounding area is characterized by hilly terrain and dense vegetation, offering a cool annual temperature of around 20°C. The falls are accessible via a dirt road, approximately 9 km long, making it passable in all seasons.Ekom Nkam Waterfalls not only boasts natural beauty but also holds cultural significance and has appeared in film. A scene from the movie 'Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan' was filmed here in 1982, adding to its allure. For visitors, there are well-appointed staircases with guardrails. The surrounding forest is home to diverse wildlife, including chimpanzees, monkeys, and various species of fish in the rivers.     Taxi

    From Nkongsamba, taxis are readily available to Ekom Nkam Waterfalls. Negotiate the fare beforehand; a round trip, including waiting time, typically costs around 10,000 XAF. The journey takes approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour each way, depending on road conditions. Ensure the taxi driver knows the route to Melong II and the turnoff to Ekom Waterfalls. From there, it's an unpaved road to the falls.

    Motorbike

    Motorbikes (motos) are a cheaper alternative to taxis from Nkongsamba. Expect to pay around 5,000 XAF for a round trip. The ride can be bumpy due to the unpaved road leading to the falls. Ensure the driver is experienced and that you wear a helmet. The journey is similar to the taxi route, heading north on the N5 to Melong II and then turning onto the dirt road.
