Yaoundé Nsimalen International Airport (NSI), also known as Aéroport international de Yaoundé-Nsimalen, is the second busiest and largest public airport in Cameroon. Situated 27 km (16 miles) south of Yaoundé, the airport serves as a key entry point to the capital city and the broader Centre Region. Opened in 1991, Nsimalen replaced the older Yaoundé Airport, which had become constrained by the city's growth and its proximity to oil deposits. Today, the former international airport serves as an airbase for the Cameroon Air Force. Nsimalen International Airport is equipped with modern facilities, including a passenger terminal, a cargo terminal, and six aircraft stands. The airport has one runway that can accommodate a Boeing 747. Inside the passenger terminal, travelers can find 10 check-in desks, a currency exchange office, a post office, restaurants, a tourist information center, a business center, banks, and car rental and taxi services. As a focus city for Camair-Co, the airport facilitates both domestic and international flights, connecting Yaoundé to various destinations within Africa and Europe.
