    Discover more about Parrsboro Lighthouse

The Parrsboro Lighthouse, situated on the western side of the entrance to Parrsboro Harbour, is more than just a navigational aid; it's a symbol of the town's rich maritime past and the powerful Bay of Fundy. The lighthouse stands on a breakwater, a square concrete tower rising from a one-story building. The original Parrsboro Lighthouse, constructed in 1852, was an octagonal wooden tower with an attached dwelling. Due to its exposed location, it suffered repeated damage from storms and erosion. In 1873, a breakwater was built to protect the structure, but even that wasn't enough to withstand the force of nature. The original lighthouse was eventually replaced by a skeletal tower around 1945. The current lighthouse was constructed in 1980.Parrsboro itself is a charming town located on the Bay of Fundy, known for having the world's highest tides. Visitors can explore the Fundy Geological Museum, which showcases the area's ancient geological past and dinosaur fossils. The Ottawa House By-The-Sea Museum offers a glimpse into the region's history and architecture. Parrsboro is also a hub for artists, with many galleries and shops showcasing local talent.
